"Mankind is divided into rich and poor, into property owners and exploited; and to abstract oneself from this fundamental division; and from the antagonism between poor and rich means abstracting oneself from fundamental facts"-Joseph Stalin

Women in the Soviet Union

I have found a new workforce. Because of these five-year plans, our nation needs all its citizens to join the effort to industrialize the country. I have found a way for women to help in their patriotic duties: they can work.

Russian women are already accustomed to heavy and dirty tasks around the house and on the farm, so it is not that much different to have them labor elsewhere, in addition to their household duties. Women, especially Soviet women, are strong and can be sent to work on construction sites where they can build factories, dams, and other things essential for the industrialization of the Soviet Union. In addition, I have found that women are clever enough to operate lathes, drill presses, and other machinery. I have also sent women to work on digging ditches and canals.

They are hard workers, of course they have to be, however, there are some women who are becoming unhealthy because of this labor, and some have even given their lives, but it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make, and they should be proud of themselves. What better way to spend your life than serving and dying for your country. They are hard workers; of course they have to be. Every citizen must work hard for the motherland!
